How is my session date picked?

The date of your newborn session is chosen based on your estimated due date / cesarian date. I will check my availability and get back to you with dates that are approximately 6-14 days after baby is expected to arrive. This normally works out well but as we know babies are unpredictable so things can always be adjusted based on their actual birthdate and how you are feeling afterward.

Do you offer in home or in hospital sessions

I do offer in home lifestyle sessions. To see how to best prepare for an in home session please read here. To learn more about the differences between a lifestyle session and a session done in my studio and decide which is the best fit for you please read here. I also love photographing session in the hospital and refer to those as โ€œFresh 48โ€ sessions as they are typically done in the first 48 hours of the babies arrival before they leave the hospital. These sessions are dependent on my availability during the time you are due. The cost of these sessions is the same as in my investment guide only the location is different. I do charge a travel fee outside the Reno area.

What should we wear?

Baby should be dressed in a comfortable outfit that can be unzipped or unbuttoned easily and does not have to be pulled over their head. This way if he/she is asleep when you arrive we can get started right away without disturbing them. For parents and siblings I suggest neutral colors and soft fabrics so we arenโ€™t irritating babies skin. You may want to dress in layers as the studio is kept very warm for baby. You may also want to bring an outfit change just in case you get spit up on or otherwise ;) I do have maternity gowns in the studio if you would like to wear one and a few dress options for younger girls. Touch base with me in advance if you would like to see what I have here.

What should we bring with us?

Please bring feeding and comfort supplies such as pacifiers, bottles, extra breastmilk or formula, wipes, diapers, etc. You may also want to bring a snack for yourself and your little ones if you are bringing siblings along. I have everything we will need here in the studio to style the session: props, blankets, outfits, hats, headbands, etc. If there is a special heirloom or keepsake item that you would like to have in the images please let me know in advance.

How long will the session take?

If you have selected the Bundle of Joy or Luxe collection you should plan to be in the studio between 2.5 and 3 hours. In home sessions normally last 1.5 - 2 hours. The exact length of time depends on how easily baby settles, how many breaks they take to nurse, and whether or not we are doing parent and sibling images in addition to just baby. I never rush a session. If your session is taking place in the hospital it should only last about 1-1.5 hours as we will not be utilizing props, etc.

Are siblings allowed?

Siblings are absolutely allowed in studio for the newborn session and I encourage you to book a collection that includes sibling and parent images. I have a separate play area where your other kiddos can color, watch TV or a movie, and play with toys. Sometimes little ones still get bored waiting for the session to end so you may want to bring two cars to the session so your partner can take brothers/sisters to do something fun or go home once their photos with the baby are finished.

When will we see our edited images?

I always do my best to get your images back to you as quickly as possible because these little babes change in a blink. During especially busy times it can take 3-4 weeks to get your edited images. When your images are ready to view you will be sent a link via email to see your gallery. If you booked a smaller collection and decide you would like more of the images you always have the option to upgrade.
